Support for NCEA Pilot Schools

Support for NCEA Pilot Schools

The Ministry of Education has now confirmed the schools and kura that will be involved in piloting the new NCEA Level 1 subjects. By piloting and providing feedback on the new subjects, these schools and kura will play a critical role in strengthening NCEA to improve well-being, equity, coherence, pathways and credibility – for students and teachers alike.

To support them in this important mahi, resources will be progressively made available to support pilot teachers in using the new learning matrices, achievement standards, assessment activities and other supporting materials to plan programmes of learning. These resources will be made available on Te Aka, a collaborative platform provided by NZQA that includes chat and meeting functionality, and repositories for shared resources.

While the new NCEA Level 1 material is available to all, only schools and kura that have been selected to take part in the pilots will be able to use the new achievement standards to credential student learning.
