Ngā ariā matua o te marau | Curriculum key concepts/content

In this activity, students will read a variety of authentic te reo Māori materials and write expressively for a range of purposes. Students will use a range of strategies to learn te reo Māori effectively.

He whakamārama / Explanation

  • personification - giving human qualities to something non-human. Hei tauira, kei te riri te hau.
  • reverse personification - giving non-human qualities to humans. Hei tauira, e te manu mātārae.

The evidence for this standard will be an oral or written presentation.

Teachers should ensure that language is drawn from a teaching programme which is centred around Achievement Objectives for Level 7 of The New Zealand Curriculum.

Evidence may be submitted in one of the following ways:

  • video recording of the presentation
  • written text showing understanding of personification and reverse personification.
