You have been asked by a local charity to give advice on their decision to buy a new vehicle. They need to deliver large items (eg furniture) each day. The vehicle they buy must be suitable for this.
The pūtake of the organisation includes an emphasis on being environmentally friendly while maintaining financial viability.
Any purchase will require the organisation to obtain external finance to fund the purchase.
You will investigate their financial decision-making by exploring delivery vehicle options to best meet the needs of the charity. You should discuss connections between the pūtake of the charity and their decision-making.
- Discuss the charity’s pūtake and the community it aims to serve.
- Identify stakeholders the charity will consider in their decision-making, such as donors or sponsors.
- Describe a range of delivery vehicles that the charity could buy to meet its need.
- Explain the pros and cons of each option, including some possible consequences for the charity and its stakeholders. This should include how the option addressed the need of the charity, as well as financing options for the purchase, and must incorporate financial data from a financial tool.
- Explain different stakeholder’s perspectives in relation to the options being considered.
- Select the delivery vehicle the charity should choose and explain why it should choose this vehicle over the other options. Include financial data and other information from a financial tool.
- Analyse in what ways the stakeholder perspectives have been considered with this financial decision, eg to what extent have the concerns and values of the donors been met?
- Analyse in what ways the charity could respond to the possible consequences of the decision (eg justify a recommendation for how the charity could best respond to possible consequences of the decision).
