Teacher-only days are for schools and kura to prepare for the changes to NCEA in the way that best suits them.

The upcoming teacher-only day can be held from 27 May - 7 June 2024. If you want support to connect with other schools and kura in your region, please contact the NCEA Lead at your regional office.

The following resources were developed to support the implementation of the NCEA changes and can be used on teacher-only days to facilitate sessions with your department, school or kura.

We encourage you to review the resources prior to the teacher-only day and select only the activities relevant to your setting. Together they offer more than a full day of activities.

Four teacher-only days are available to primary and secondary schools, kura and wharekura in 2023 and 2024. These days provide dedicated time for you to engage with the significant changes across the integrated Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme within Te Poutāhū.

Ringfenced time for schools, kura and kaiako to engage with these changes was requested by education sector groups in 2022 and has been granted for 2023 and 2024.

The timeframes for the 2023 and 2024 teacher-only days have been set following consultation with the Sector Advisory Group supporting teacher-only days.
