Revised Achievement Standards and supporting materials for assessment in 2027
A number of NCEA assessment materials have been updated for 2027 following the 2026 Review and Maintenance of NCEA.
Teachers and other NCEA providers must ensure that all assessment in 2026 continues to use the current 2026 versions of Achievement Standards and supporting materials.
A number of NCEA assessment materials have been updated for 2027 following the 2026 Review and Maintenance Programme. The Level 3 Te Ao Haka Achievement Standards, along with one Achievement Standard for Level 2 Economics (91227), have been updated during this process; the other updates have been made to assessment supporting materials.
All updated NCEA materials for New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) are now available for 2027 planning purposes on the NCEA.Education website.
Draft External Assessment Specifications for 2027 will be available on the NZQA website.
- NZC: The updates are available as PDFs, organised by subject, on the NCEA Support page. These are watermarked as “For Planning 2027”.
- Te Marautanga o Aotearoa: Kaupae 2 and 3 Toi Puoro supporting materials and Tikanga Aromatawai for all subjects will be available on the NCEA support page in Term 4.
The updated content is for use from 2027.
In January 2027, the updated materials will replace the current materials on the NCEA.Education website for NZC Level 1 and Te Ao Haka Level 3; for NZC Levels 2 and 3, the materials will be updated on the TKI website. Once this has happened, the PDFs will be removed from NCEA.Education.
