Our Kura Māori Implementation team collaborates with teams across Te Poutāhū and the wider Ministry to collectively support the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme.

Jason Kora - Senior Manager

Ko Jason Kora tōku ingoa. I am the Senior Manager of the NCEA Kura Māori Implementation team. Our key role is to provide implementation support for kura and kaiako around the NCEA changes. In particular, we have a focus on the new Te Maruatanga o Aotearoa standards and materials which have been developed.

Nei ra te reo o aumihi ka tuku ki a koutou katoa. Ko Teimana Bennett tōku ingoa. He uri ahau o te moana o Tauranga. Ko Ngāti Ranginui te iwi. Ko te Pirirākau, Ngāti Kahu ngā hapū. Ko Takitimu te waka.

Ko te kaupapa matua o tōku ao, ko tōku whānau. Kare he kaupapa tū atu i te aroha mō āku tamariki, mō āku mokopuna a Waiaua rāua ko Te Ao Muhurangi. “Poipoia ngā mokopuna, ngā Rangatira mō āpōpō”

I am the Wāhanga Ako Lead Manager for our NCEA Kura Māori Implementation team. I am very passionate about Kaupapa Māori within all settings. It’s a privilege to be working in a space that is changing the landscape, and it’s an honour to be with a team that is navigating new TMOA products as well as other Kaupapa Ako areas.

Kāti.

I am part of the Kura Māori Implementation Team. We respond to the NCEA Changes with a specific focus of Kura Māori. I am the Kaitiaki Rohe for Te Tai Tokerau, and am here to support, connect with Kura Māori and kaiako Māori.

Pura Hope - Manager Relationships

Ko Tainui te waka, ko Waikato te iwi, ko Ngāruawāhia tōku tūrangawaewae. Ko Pura Hope tōku ingoa.

Ko ahau te Manager Relationships o te rōpū Kura Māori Implementation. E ngākaunui ana au ki ngā kura kaupapa Māori, mai i te Kohanga Reo tae atu rā ki ngā Whare Wānanga, ki ngā wāhi katoa e poipoi ana i a tātou tamariki i roto i te reo me ōna tikanga.

My role is to support connection, communication, and collaboration across the different groups who contribute to the NCEA change plan, with a focus on kura and ākonga Māori. I’m passionate about kaupapa Māori education and the opportunities that we can provide for our rangatahi to succeed as Māori. I’m also excited about the opportunity to change the way we look at NCEA by changing our perspectives on assessment. E mihi ana ki ngā kaiako, koutou rā ngā ringa huhuti punga e manaaki nei i tēnei kaupapa!

Dan Waitai - Principal Advisor

Kei āku nui, kei āku rahi, kei āku whakatamarahi ki te rangi, tēnā ra koutou katoa. Ko Dan Waitai tōku ingoa. He uri tēnei nō Ngāti Kuri, nō Te Arawa hoki. Ko ahau te Principal Advisor mō te tīma Kura Māori Implementation.

As a Principal Advisor, I am dedicated to assisting kura Māori and ākonga Māori through the NCEA changes. My experience spans teaching Te Reo Māori, Māori Performing Arts, and other programmes in various schools. This journey has given me deep insights into the challenges of ensuring equity for ākonga Māori and mātauranga Māori. Koinei te tino putake ka piki ki tēnei taha o te taiapa.

Kiana Ria Renata-Kokiri - Advisor

Kei ngā matamatahuānga o te motu, tēnā koutou katoa! He riponga wai tēnei nā Tūrahiri, nā Rongowhakaata, otirā nō Te Tairāwhiti whānui. Ko Kiana Ria Renata-Kokiri tōku ingoa, ko ahau te Kaitohutohu mō te tima nei. He raukura ahau nō te Kōhanga Reo, nō TKKM anō hoki.

My role is to support the implementation of the NCEA change plan within Kura Maori. My expertise extends to Te Ao Māori, my passion is within its revitalisation and reclamation as well the growth and development of rangatahi Māori.
