The Literacy Pedagogy Guides (LPGs)

The Literacy Pedagogy Guides (LPGs) showcase a selection of literacy-rich contexts in your learning area and the small, effective steps that you can trial and weave into your teaching practice.

They are designed to link authentic and meaningful contexts that are literacy-rich from your learning area, based on the Big Ideas and Significant Learning in Unpacking Literacy.

They are also designed to:

  • provide guidance on how you can support literacy using contexts from your learning area.
  • inspire you to consider other contexts in your learning area that are literacy-rich and share these ideas with other teachers.

There will be further LPGs developed throughout 2022, so that there is at least one LPG available per Learning Area. Some guides cover a whole Learning Area (e.g. Technology), while others focus on one subject (e.g. Materials and Processing Technology). Nonetheless, the aspects of literacy and the suggestions for things that teachers can do within the subject will be just as relevant to the Learning Area.
