Help accelerate literacy | te reo matatini and numeracy | pāngarau achievement for Year 9–10 students

The Year 9–10 Co-requisite Support Package is designed to help schools and kura strengthen literacy | te reo matatini and numeracy | pāngarau achievement and support learners to successfully meet the NCEA Co-requisite requirements.

Support will be available in Term 1, 2027 through to the end of 2028 and includes both professional learning and development (PLD) opportunities and targeted student support.

Schools and kura can submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for support in 2027.

Who can apply?

All eligible schools and kura can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

Priority for support will be determined using a combination of factors including:

• Equity Index
• Year 9–10 roll size
• Common Assessment Activity (CAA) attainment data
• Information provided within the EOI.  

How the process works

1. Review the support options and identify your school or kura needs.
2. Complete an Expression of Interest (EOI).
3. EOIs will be assessed and prioritised.
4. Schools and kura selected for support will be notified and asked to confirm participation.
5. In Term 1 (date to be finalised) participating schools and kura will begin receiving support.

January—February 2027	Support begins
July 2027	Mid-year intake begins
